A strong girl in my opinion is a girl who is not afraid to be her self. A girl who tries new things and appreciates her friends and family for who they are not who she wants them to be. A strong girl is a girl who is optimistic and kind. A girl that encourages others and a girl who stands up for her beliefs and what’s right. A girl who is strong, tries every day to be a better person then they were the day before. I know my mother is strong because she has an opinion and she knows when she should sit still or when she should say something. My sister is strong because she encourages others and is herself. My friend and her twin are strong because they are kind, generous and they are themselves and they don’t deny that. Another friend, Luke, is strong because she knows what is right and what’s not and she is a friend for who ever needs her or comes her way. And yes, I do know girls who are too shy or have no self-confidence, or have made bad decision. But that does not mean they are not strong girls, it just means they have a hole that one day will be patched up. I, myself, have a long road ahead of me and I will have time to patch up all my holes. I need to be less judgmental and more open to change. I need to be a better friend. As you can see I have good people in my life to look up to. I will look up to them. I am a Strong Girl!!!

Hi Sophie! I love how you recognized the strengths you see in your mom and your friends. It takes a strong girl to share her thoughts openly and to recognize and share the areas of her own life that she's working on. Your voice will help others find their own strength!

Sofie you have been my roll model ever since the first moment I laid eyes on you. You are a strong girl - period. The Essay that you Wrote was beautiful and I am glad you are my big sis. I'd be lying if I told you you weren't a beautiful, spiritual, kind and so many more things. You are my STRONG GIRL. I do not know what I would do with out you. This life, no, this world would not be the same with out you.

Communication is art that we encourage. During each stop, the girls we meet form new relationships and want the opportunity to maintain them and make new ones. They want to be heard by a larger audience and they are eager to listen. The Mighty Girl’s Blog is a forum for girls who have Internet access from all parts of the world to log on and say what they want to say. For those who do not have regular access to Internet, but still desire to connect with girls outside their community, we help match them as pen pals through written letters.
